Thoughts on movement

This ability level chart, where I currently feel like I’m at level 4 surely is motivating… I’ll explain.

walk

This is me autumn 2017, hunting pidgeons (basically checking out the premises before taking my son there the day after):

img_3791

That guy has a lot of habits. I still have a few of them, but I’m working on breaking free. I want to break free. I don’t want to be that guy, with a cigarette in his mouth (check, 128 days without smoking today!), who surely is eating and drinking too much bad stuff. I don’t want to be that guy, who can’t run 1K straight without walking.

So, the ability chart is one of my ways of measuring going forward. I’m going to improve my CON / STA, and I’m going to move away from that 4!

Take a stand

I’m so sick of giving in. So sick of believing that “I’m just indulging myself”, or “rewarding myself”, or saying to myself that “what I’m doing isn’t helping anyway”.

I’m tired of all the desires, all the influence from the SO which makes me crave things that aren’t good for me. I’m angry at the culture we’ve developed, were the SO is using food to kill us,  and media, drugs and alcohol is seducing us while they do so.

The SO and their desire for power and money is evil incarnated, and I’m taking a stand against everything they stand for. No longer will I allow them to destroy me and those around me with their poison, and no longer will I allow them to control my mind and body!

Enoughness

I’m good enough. I have done a lot of mistakes in the past, having a tendency to make bad decisions – sometimes it feels like I have an urge to do what’s bad for me instead of what’s good. But I have also done some good things in my life, even though I sometimes feel like I have simultaneously tried to ruin the good things in my life – as some unconscious part of my mind is telling me I don’t deserve any good.

I do deserve good. I do deserve to have the good things in my life. I do deserve to be happy and to spread my goodness to strengthen all relationships, also the existing ones which I currently struggle with. I have to accept that others have their own issues and problems, and that I can’t fix everything, and it doesn’t have to frustrate me so much and make me angry. I’m good enough, and all I have to do is to be there for them as much as I can, and to show my support. They deserve it, and I deserve to feel good about myself even if I can’t fix everything in this world. I’m good enough as I am, right now.

Hero’s Quest: Visit Østmarka’s hilltops Svartåsen og Tronfjellet

Description

To begin the questline for the Epic Quest of visiting all hilltops in Østmarka, you should start with Svartåsen and Tronfjellet right here in Lørenskog. This area should be familiar to you, so you can consentrate on your navigation skills (map and compass) while ascending, even though your not trained for such climbing yet.

svartåsen

Svartåsen

Svartåsen is ranked as the 10th highest hill in Østmarka, but it is the highest hill in Lørenskog, with an impressive altitude of 361m.

Prominence: 102m

svartåsen_branntårn

This 12m tall firewatch tower was built in 1901. It was in use until 1932, when a new 8m tall tower replaced it. The tower had a telephone line, which was sensational at the time. Unfortunately, no remains exist of the tower(s) today.

Tronfjellet

Tronfjellet is close to Svartåsen, and is ranked as the 11th highest hill in Østmarka, and second highest in Lørenskog. Tronfjellet has an altitude of 359,9m (sooo close to being number one!)

Prominence: 168,9m (but will visit at same time as Svartåsen.

Svartåsen:
Koordinater for GPS-brukere UTM sone 32 V

Hero’s Quest: Ascend the mountain Store Sølnkletten

Description

In the southern part of the mountain range Rondane lies an infamous montain named Store Sølnkletten (Big Silverblob). To climb the mountain, you’ll have to cross a desolate area, inhabited only by dangerous mosquitoes and killer sheep. The surroundings are beautiful, but your trip to the mountain will be hard, as you’ll have to survive on whatever you can carry with you in a small backpack.

As you come to the foot of the mountain, you will have to make camp and settle for a night under the stars. No man can get to the mountain and climb it in one day, so you will have to tend your sore feet and fill your stomach while you watch the fire burning and listen to the silence of the mountains.

As soon as the sun rises above the horizon, you will have to get ready for the mountain. From your camp, there is a prominence of 1049m you will have to climb to get to the highest top, which has an elevation of 1690 m.

kolla_sam_2976-1Photo of Store Sølnkletten (the biggest), and Spisskletten to the north-west of it.

Target

Get to the top of the mountain.

Loot

As you return from the mountain to your base-camp, you notice a small backpack lying half-buried under stones and sand. You dig up the backpack and look into it, and within you find a climbing rope and a couple of carabiners. You find a note as well, saying “I’m getting too old for this, I’m giving up. No more climbing for me, so to anyone who finds this – enjoy!”.

ChenSeya’s Epic Quests

During my first week in the Nerd Fitness Academy, I have done a deep internal dive for finding my reasons for changing my lifestyle, and this deep-dive afterwards led to defining my goals and eventually Epic Quests.

Even though I’m constantly working to improve these (as I learn more about myself during this journey), I have created a list of what my Epic Quests are so far (part of the initial Mindset Quests), and will share those:

Epic Quest title Description
Ascend mountain Store Sølnkletten
Go on top a mountain called “Store Sølnkletten” in Østerdalen in Norway.
Flyktningruta hardcore Currently preparing a journal entry on this.
Run half marathon  I have signed up for a half marathon. No time limit as I’m currently out of business when it comes to running.
Run 5K in 30 minutes Yep…
Shoot a 50 pts round I like shooting, and one of my goals is to shoot a 50 pts round, from standing position. Current personal record is 48.
Bring kids on camping/hiking I want to bring my kids/teenagers on a hiking trip, with one or two nights out in the wild. They are currently not too interested, so it’s going to take some CHA.
All hilltops in Østmarka Currently preparing a journal entry on this.
“Turorientering” completed  http://turorientering.no/skogtrim (orienteering). This season starting in May probably due to lots of snow still making things difficult. Probably about 80 posts – never gotten myself to find more than 20-30-something.
“Stolpejakten” completed https://stolpejakten.no/

Orienteering, but simpler. Goal this year is to use my bike and do them all in one day (two years ago managed all in two days). Not sure when season starts.

Support friends and have fun I want to get some friends together and have fun, playing AD&D or SpellFire.

Also, hoping to inspire a friend to join me in the Alter Life-quest.

STR-1: 3×5 of 140kg benchpress Currently at 100 when writing this April 12th 2018
STR-2: 3×5 of 150kg squat Currently at 90 when writing this April 12th 2018
STR-3: 3×5 of 150kg deadlift Currently at 80 unassisted when writing this April 12th 2018
STR-4: 10 pullups

Currently at 0 unassisted when writing this April 12th 2018

STR-5: 10 dips Currently at 0 unassisted when writing this April 12th 2018
Play a “difficult” song on Piano (The Entertainer)
Starting from scratch more or less (played some when I was six…).

Note: this was a copy-paste from my Google sheet. Turns out WordPress is bad at tables (need plugin) – can’t even insert an additional row for stats and so on, so maintaining this is a bit annoying.

I might change the format into something like this (or create a separate page for each Epic Quest):

Install chromium to watch Netflix on Raspberry Pi

RetroPie comes without the Raspbian desktop client, but it can be installed (either from menu, or manually with:

sudo apt-get install –no-install-recommends lxde

sudo apt-get install xorg raspberrypi-ui-mods rpi-chromium-mods

startx # to start the desktop client, but do next two steps first to install chromium

wget https://github.com/kusti8/chromium-build/releases/download/netflix-1.0.0/chromium-browser_56.0.2924.84-0ubuntu0.14.04.1.1011.deb # custom compiled Chromium browser which includes Widevine DRM (needed to watch Netflix)

sudo dpkg -i chromium-browser_56.0.2924.84-0ubuntu0.14.04.1.1011.deb # install the downloaded package

Thoughts / experience

Both the desktop client and Netflix opens nicely, but there are some issues when streaming. First; sounds is low (lower than on games in RetroPie), and picture quality is not very good. Also, after watching for about an episode, the picture starts to flicker and lag – I guess it’s because of overheating. Will try to look into this and see if things can be improved.
